2018 Leaf vs Long Journeys — Best Driving Strategy

In the earlier part of this analysis, we saw that folks are finding that, in real world conditions on long journeys, the 2018 Nissan Leaf battery pack is getting very hot. This is due to the 2018 Leaf not having any active thermal management system

The European plug-in car market started its usual holiday season in July, down almost a third compared to the previous month (summertime = lower sales). There were some 19,600 registrations. But that is still up 41% regarding the same month last year, so the growth trend continues. Year to date, the market is up 34% this year, with the EV share now standing at a record 1.6%

Nissan Has Superfast Charging Plan For New LEAF … It Seems

For years now, we and many others have been saying that no company can compete with Tesla in the electric car market until they offer a good network of superfast charging stations for their drivers. One year ago, there was no solid information anything like this was in the plans, but one had to think it was. Today, we have news of a coalition of automakers working on it in Europe and ChargePoint and EVgo developing such stations in the US, but it seems that every other automaker is years behind Tesla in this regard. That said, it seems Nissan may be the first to try to compete

Toyota Prius Prime #1 (er… #3) — Beats Chevy Volt, Chevy Bolt, & Nissan LEAF In May

As I noted last month, due to Tesla’s higher and higher production rates and little insight into where those cars are shipped, we’ve decided to stop estimating Tesla’s US sales/deliveries. That said, generally speaking, we expect that Tesla ships approximately 2,000–3,000 Model S and Model X each (so, 4,000–6,000 combined) to US customers. So, more likely than not, the Model S and Model X are the highest-selling electric cars in the United States

Norway is like a lab experiment for electric transport. Crushing the electric car market share of any other country, Norway’s 30% or so EV share has been reached after more or less following the exponential growth trend that you see in theoretical charts like this one
